Dr. Schutte is the Director of the Comprehensive Joint Program at East Cooper Medical Center and is the director and founder of the Charleston Institute of Advanced Orthopedics. He is committed to the advancement and treatments of hip and knee care through continued research. He speaks nationally on advancements at the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. His philanthropic work includes founding Walk Nicaragua, a non-profit, mission-based, medical outreach organization that provides total knee replacements and other orthopedic surgical services to the citizens of Nicaragua and other countries. His wife and daughter have traveled with him on several medical missions.

Dr. Schutte is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Association. He was on the faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) for over 21 years. He has received numerous honors, including The John A. Siegling Teaching Award, and has continued to publish and speak on innovation in joint care.
